Microsoft reorganises Copilot around asking, building and delegating
Home, Code and Autopilot point toward a broader workspace, with staged access and new spending controls.
What happened
Microsoft announced Home, Code and Autopilot for Copilot on 25 September. Home brings conversation and delegated work together; Code is intended to help users build solutions; Autopilot is designed for persistent, proactive work.
The announcement set out a staged rollout through the Frontier programme and private previews. Microsoft also described spending controls and usage-based billing for several agent capabilities. The announcement should not be read as universal availability in every account.
Our take
Combining documents, small applications and delegated tasks could reduce switching between tools. It also makes ownership clearer: someone still needs to decide what an agent may do and what counts as a successful result.
For your next team discussion
Choose one recurring task and write down its inputs, expected deliverable, approval point and spending limit. Use that brief to judge whether an available Copilot feature improves the workflow in practice.

Review time counts too. Negative results mean the example takes longer overall.
