Slice a feature into deliverable stories

Break a large feature into small vertical slices that can each be demonstrated.

The workflow

When to use

Break a large feature into small vertical slices that can each be demonstrated.

Workflow

  1. Read the brief and identify the complete user journey.
  2. Split by user-visible outcome rather than frontend/backend layers.
  3. For each slice give actor, trigger, happy path, failure state, dependencies, and acceptance examples.
  4. Order by risk and learning value. Mark what can be deferred without breaking the first journey.

Boundaries

Use only tools and data authorized for the task. Ask for missing requirements when they affect the result. Report what you verified and what you could not verify.
